Our guided
tour continues with Retro Gypsy at a 1950's style
American Halloween sock hop. Rock and Roll came on
the American scene like a storm in the early 1950's.
Television shows such as American Bandstand
propelled the music into the hearts and souls of the
youths of America. The 50's generation claimed the
music as their own where it evolved into high school
sock hops, cruising and late night slumber parties.
American Rock and Roll idols such as Elvis
Presley became a phenomenon whose legend still
lives on today. The music has changed, but the
message is still much the same with heart-wrenching
songs of love lost and youthful rebellion against
the generation before them.
The
Poodle Skirt, A Fabulous 50's Icon . . .
Young American ladies of the
fifties era made popular a unique fashion...the pink
Poodle skirt! Dressed in her
signature pink poodle skirt and little white sweater Gypsy
the red Chihuahua is everybody's sweetheart at her
high school Halloween sock hop. So put on some of
your favorite oldies tunes and bop to those rock and
roll hits for a blast from the past!

A Sweeter, Simpler Time .
. .
Sock hops, cruising, and
weekends at the local drive-in theater are
reminiscent of a sweeter, simpler time. Movies
weren't rated back then. Classics such as
Rebel Without A Cause and
On The Waterfront reflected the
eternal struggle between youth and authority.

Yes, Gypsy's Mommy is old
enough to remember
The Fabulous 50's. She created this
nostalgic 1950's page for all of you who can
remember those times as well, and especially for
those who can't. "Camelot" was
born in the Fabulous 50's and grew up in the
tumultuous free spirited youth of the 60's. We
hope you've enjoyed our short trip down memory
