Between the years of 1975 till around 1989 my
husband and I bred and showed pedigreed cats.
These were very exciting years to us and we
enjoyed all aspects of breeding, raising and
showing championship quality show cats in The
American Cat Fanciers Association.
In the beginning we only had
one seal point Himalayan cat, but over the years
we became involved with raising and showing
Persians and British Shorthairs as well. We even
had one black Cornish Rex for a brief period,
but were not as successful with him as we were
with some of our other breeds.
We'd like to present some of
our greatest cats on this page for your
enjoyment. These beautiful cats have all passed
over the Rainbow Bridge many years ago now, but
they will remain forever in our hearts. The
memories of them are vivid in our minds and to
honor them one last time on our website is only
fitting. We hope you enjoy this page devoted to
"The Show Cat Years..."

Bill Walsh,
Kathy Rohrer
with "Creusa"
|
This photo shows a
dear friend and our mentor, Mr. Bill
Walsh, who was the owner and breeder of
our beautiful Himalayan being held in
the photo by the American Cat Fanciers
Association judge Kathy Rohrer
who had just awarded "Creusa" Best of
The Best Alter at the Harrisonburg,
Virginia allbreed cat show. Ms. Rohrer
was one of the first people to import a
blue British Shorthair into the United
States which went on to sire our own
Grand Champion "Nite Action." We were
very grateful to both of these dedicated
and wonderful cat fancy enthusiasts who
pioneered in the field of their
respective breeds.
Mr. Walsh is now
deceased, but will always remain in our
hearts as a kind and unforgettable man
loved by everyone he touched. At the
time of his death he was a tenured
professor at James Madison University in
Harrisonburg, Virginia where he left his
indelible mark with thousands of
students over the years.

"Flashfire"
©Salem
Times Register |
This photo
accompanied an article in our local
newspaper about "Flashfire" after she
won Best Cat, Allbreed and
Best Cat, Specialty rings at a
Harrisonburg, Virginia show.
"Flashfire" was the
first cat from the famous Kitsmiller
cattery in California to be imported and
shown on the East coast. She was the
only cat we ever had which was truly a
"show-stopper." She loved being shown
which is rare among cats. Most of them
tolerate it, but do not really enjoy it.
But "Flashfire" lit up when she was put
in a show ring, always knowing exactly
what she had and that there was nothing
that could beat her. It broke our hearts
when she died of liver failure at the
tender age of five. As much as a year
after her passing other exhibitors at
shows would walk up to us with tears in
their eyes because they admired her so.
She was truly a once-in-a-lifetime-cat!

Nite Action
Harrisonaburg, VA. |
This photo shows Nite
Action resting in his cage while waiting
for our other cats to finish up in the
rings at a show. The ribbons across the
front of the cage all belong to him from
that one show which helped him go on to
place in the top five All-Southeast Cats
for that year, American Cat fanciers
Association.

Nite Action
"Best Cat"
Specialty Ring |
Kathy Rohrer shows
off "Nite Action" on her judge's stand
as she presents him with Best cat in
Show, Specialty Ring in Harrisonburg,
VA.
"Nite Action" decided
this would be a good time to take off
and run around the show hall scaring us
all out of our wits! But, we scooped him
up pretty quickly when he realized he
was in a strange place with too many
people tying to catch him!
