Tiny, The Symbol of Perfect Pet

Tiny with Juanita The lovely lady at left is my special internet buddy Juanita. I met Juanita a while back when she signed my guest book and told me about her constant companion and soul mate, Tiny. This wonderful creature had been with her many years and was especially endearing to her following the death of her husband seven years earlier. I came to love Juanita very much and also her daughter, Sharon, and through them I came to know Tiny. When Juanita emailed me Tiny was ill I was fearful. When Tiny passed over the Rainbow Bridge March 13, 2002 it was almost too much to bear. This incredible little dog had filled Juanita's life with such happiness and joy that I decided to dedicate my long-awaited "Rainbow Bridge" page in remembrance of Tiny, the eternal symbol of a beloved pet.

I'd like to share briefly a few things related to me by Juanita's daughter which are unique, yet universal traits we all recognize in pets which rise above the norm and fill our hearts with love:

"Tiny"

"Tiny was 14 years old. We had her for 13 years. She never had a bad habit...incredible, isn't it? She was always dainty when she ate and gentle when someone wanted to cuddle her. She would even cuddle back! She especially liked soft chests and tummies...Our family had many dogs over the years, but never one like Tiny. Her mission in life seemed to be to make people happy. She was my Dad's constant companion for years when he was suffering from cancer...Tiny even rode in the wheelchair with him form room to room. After Dad's death Tiny was Mom's constant companion, always with Mom, even when she came to visit us. We always called Tiny our "little angel", comforting us through life's good and bad times...Tiny had all kinds of toys, but she just wasn't a playful dog. She surprised us one day while preparing for a yard sale...Tiny was playing with a wool scarf and hat we'd set aside for the sale! She would toss it in the air and try to catch it. She came to love those two things and they stayed by her little basket all the time. When she died we couldn't bear to separate them from her. so they are still with her now...

So, with a heavy heart we close Tiny's chapter in Juanita's life and painfully work through the grief which seems to permeate our lives when we loose such a beloved animal. Tiny's passing gave me the inspiration to create this difficult, but necessary page to honor all pets which have passed on with her shining example of why we love our pets so much. This page is dedicated in memory to all those perfect pets, but the original dedication will always remain "In Honor of Tiny, The Symbol of a Beloved Pet".
